This past year we helped a number of companies, such as OneSubsea, Intecsea and Shell to identify potential design problems early, when the cost for change is low, resulting in the reduction of design iterations.

The software SimulationX, developed by ESI in Germany, is the trend-setter in physical system simulation. SimulationX meets the specific needs of the offshore/subsea industry. It is the only universal CAE tool with subsea specific libraries. The libraries, which are developed by Agito and ESI have ready to use subsea components, such as; umbilical’s, subsea control modules, electrical power units, electrical junction boxes, transformer, subsea valves, deep-water accumulator, subsea compensators and ROV stabs.

What kind of model can I build and simulate?

You can use the standard library of elements in the construction of your model. If there is not a standard element available then you can construct a new library element from the basic elements

How does it work?

By means of mathematical description/modelling of the system components SimulationX cupelling the elements and a virtual model of the system is built on the computer. And by operating the virtual system model one can display all dynamics of the system graphically.

Am I limited to just hydraulics or electrical systems?

Using SimulationX you can combine Hydraulics with Electrical, Mechanical and other libraries. This allows you to model a multi-physics system.

What input data is required for the modelling?

Component supplier data sheet information is normally sufficient as input data to the modelling.

Can we trust the results from the simulations?

Results from simulations have been benchmarked against test results and proven  high degree of accuracy. The Subsea Hydraulic Library has been independently verified.
